4 Trends Taking Over Kitchens

The Kitchen & Bathroom Designers Institute have identified the following 4 key trends to look out for in new kitchens.

1. 50 SHADES OF GREY
The classic white kitchen will no doubt always be popular, however deeper shades of grey are making an impact in Australian kitchens. Look out for “almost black” browns and greys in cabinetry, benchtops and appliances.

2. WARM UP WHITE
White kitchens have held their ground, while some have been “warmed up” with beautiful timber detailing. Planked timber and striking veneers takes the edge off an all-white kitchen by adding warmth and depth in the grain and patterns.

3. STATEMENT SPLASHBACKS
With an enormous range of tiles available today, there’s something to suit all tastes. Magnificent mosaics, recycled glass and replica timber will appeal to many, while Moroccan-inspired or geometric tiles will appear on the must-have lists for others. For those still keen on grout-free glass, new technology is making it more affordable for homeowners to incorporate personal photos or artwork into their own unique splashback designs.

4. MARVELLOUS MARBLE
Combining new technology with age-old materials allows the dramatic visual impact of Calcatta Oro or Statuarlo to take centre stage in the kitchen. For those a little caution about the delicate nature of the real thing, look into man-made alternatives that can look like natural stone, with more durability and less maintenance.
